Easy to use and with novel DivX HD playback, there’s little this multimedia TV can’t do well.

Unlike a lot of Full HD LCD TVs at this price, the 32SL8000 is packed with features that are as useful as they are easy to operate.

The most impressive is the USB media player, which can display JPEG slideshows set to MP3 music as well as various video files – including DivX and DivX HD.

It’s also got TruMotion 200Hz, though LG’s take on the tech is to provide a scanning backlight alongside a 100Hz filter.

Less crucial is Bluetooth connectivity for wireless headphones and sending pictures from a mobile phone.

A jack of all trades and slim to boot, the 32SL8000 is a good value and hard-working LCD TV that would grace any living room after a catch-all digital and hi-def solution.

LG aim the PQ6000 Plasma TV series at the consumer who wishes to connect digital media as it has numerous connections, including 3 HDMI and a USB port, perfect for your Blu-ray Player and Playstation 3 for example. The design is outstanding with a super slim body and slender stand.

Features
Features on board the PQ6000 series include a 600Hz Sub-Field Drive which offers no motion blur and a super fast response time making watching sports and films a very exciting experience. In addition, it is also HD ready and offers more colours and a higher resolution image with more sharp detail. As LG state ‘the HDMI 1.3 Deep Colour eliminates on-screen colour banding for smooth tonal transitions and subtle gradations. It also enables increased contrast ratio and represents many times more shades of grey between black and white’. The Intelligent Sensor on board automatically adjusts the image quality depending on the surrounding lighting conditions, good for saving energy. Freeview is also thrown in with all the digital channels you need.

Performance
Once we had completed the very simple set up process, we assessed the Freeview images. These were, quite literally, outstanding. Colour reproduction was shown superbly and detail was immense. All standard definition content was a joy to watch and displayed brilliantly with blacks retaining detail too. HD images were displayed well too although this TV is aimed mainly at standard definition viewers with the resolution of 720p. We were, surprisingly, impressed with the sound that was blasted from the hidden speakers, it was forceful and direct. Sound sometimes suffers on a HDTV and a Home Theatre System is its only hope, but no with this.

Overall Opinion
We were hugely impressed with this entry level HDTV from LG. It has a very reasonable price tag for a good performing TV.

I just got another LCD TV, this 32 LG53FR is for my bedroom, why is choose this LCD TV? well, mainly because im on a tight budget this months, so with only $500 i got this FULL LCD TV. The first impressions in this LCD TV is so sexy, slim ( not as slim as New Scarlet ), neat, clean and glossy look, so far im satiesfied with this LCD TV.

One thing i like about having a Big Screen TV is the PIP (Picture In Picture) features, unfortunaltely last couple years most of LCD TV manufactures disabled it, i dont know why, i think it’s kinda cool to watch two TV Station at one screen, but whatever. Well this one has PIP features in it, but not between TV channels, but between TV Channels and Video (AV1 & AV2), so you can watch your dvd movies and at the same time you can watch your favourite TV Channels.

Im currently still setting up my WD TV HD Media Player with this LCD TV, im gonna give report soon.

First tipped by ChannelNews in April, LG executive Won Kim, LG’s VP of OLED sales and marketing said that the new LG offering will be similar to the prototype that was shown at the 2009 CES show in Las Vegas.

In some area’s it is significantly better than the Sony 11″ XEL1 model which is on sale in Australia for $6,999 claims Mr Kim.

The new model has a 1,000,000:1 contrast (same as XEL1), a 1,366 x 768 pixel resolution (better than XEL1), and a 30,000-hour shelf life (much better than XEL1, which degrades after 1,000 hours). It is also expected to be ultra-thin (the XEL1 is just 3mm thin).

Also set to steal Sony’s OLED position in the market is Samsung who have said that they intend to launch new 14.1″ and 31″ OLED TV soon. However analysts are saying that they doubt that the 31″ model will be launched in 2009.

The Samsung OLED displays use a Fine Metal Mask (FMM) technology to achieve larger sizes and better character in smaller displays.

The 14.1″ display is aimed at the laptop market and offers 1366×768 resolution, 200cd brightness, colour gamut of 107% PAL and a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio.

The 31″ TV set is 8.9mm thick. It offers an impressive FHD (1920×1080) image, 200cd brightness, color gamut of 107% PAL and a 1,000,000:1 contrast.

The Korean Tech Daily said that LG may be able to get the jump on Samsung.

A big advantage for LG is hat Apple has selected them as their prefer display partner and in November 2008 gave LG $500M upfront money to work on research and development of new OLED display technology.

They also signed a $5B contract with LG to supply display screens for Apple products including iPods and MacBooks.

LG Electronics said Thursday it has started shipping a pair of flat-panel TVs that are among the first with built-in capability to stream movies from the Netflix online service.

The 47-inch 47LH50 ($2,100 suggested retail) LCD TV and 50-inch plasma 50PS80 ($2,100), which were introduced at International CES, are FullHD 1080p models incorporating Netflix instant-streaming software. The software enables access to the Internet-based movie-rental content without the need of external devices, other than an in-home broadband network.

Two additional models with the feature — a 42-inch 42LH50 LCD TV ($1,700)and 60-inch 60PS80 plasma set ($3,200) — are slated to ship this summer, LG said.

The models include what LG calls NetCast Entertainment Access.

LG currently sells two Blu-ray Disc players and a pair of Network Home Theater Systems with built-in access to the Netflix movie service.

The Netflix streaming video library offers virtually instant access to more than 12,000 movies and TV episodes, with hundreds available in HD, LG said. Netflix member fees start at $8.99/month for unlimited instant streaming in addition to the ability to rent from among 100,000 titles of DVD and Blu-ray Discs via mail.

“With 2.5 million North American households looking to purchase a networked TV, incorporating broadband connectivity into our new HDTVs became a natural progression of our partnership with Netflix,” stated Peter Reiner, LG Electronics marketing and strategy senior VP. “Both LG and Netflix are committed to offering consumers easy access to entertainment on demand, and LG’s newest HDTVs make it easier than ever to access thousands of movies and TV shows instantly.”

LG Electronics has introduced its latest Blu-ray disc players with its NetCast Entertainment Access technology and Wi-Fi capabilities to provide instant access for Internet and entertainment media content.

As TMCnet had reported earlier in the year, LGE showcased its NetCast Entertainment Access, which brings to the viewer a wide range of Net features and almost instant streaming (a 30 to 40 seconds delay) of videos available on Yahoo, Netflix and YouTube (News – Alert) by virtue of LG’s recent tie-ups and agreements with these companies. The technology was then an integral part of its two new broadband Plasma High Definition (HD) TVs’ debuts, and since this vast on-line media content – current events, comedy, home movies, educational classes on any topic, the list is endless – is as per the viewer’s choice, request and convenience, a whole new dimension is added to TV viewing.

“As today’s consumer spends more time entertaining in the home, LG’s latest Network Blu-ray Disc Players offer something better – a more personalized entertainment experience with diverse content the whole family can enjoy,” said Peter Reiner, senior vice president, marketing and strategy for LG Electronics (News – Alert) USA, in a release. “With increased streaming content options and exceptional audio and picture quality, LG is bridging the gap between packaged media and video-on-demand services.”

Company officials say that in addition to Netflix and YouTube content, users can also gain instant access to Roxio CinemaNow via the BD370 and BD390 Network Blu-ray Disc players, which were earlier previewed at the 2009 International CES (News – Alert).

NetCast Entertainment Access coupled with Wi-Fi capabilities in the BD devices, say officials, provide users with an unlimited collection of movies, TV serials, interactive Download-to-Own and Pay-Per-View options from Roxio (News – Alert) CinemaNow with just a click of the remote, and the device has a one Giga Byte (GB) of in-built memory for Blu-ray Disc live functionality.

The BD devices offer full HD 1080 pixel video output from standard DVD’s with discrete 7.1 channel analog audio output, say officials, and has Dolby TrueHD surround sound with a USB 2.0 media host.

An earlier market research, reported TMCnet, predicted that Web-To-TV will eventually comprehensively re-sculpt the existing TV viewing business models, driving a new economic paradigm once video content is modified to suit a new Web-To-TV trend, Web-to-TV streaming services will grow to $ 2.9 billion in 2013 and that currently more than 40 percent of young adults in U.S. households view Internet live streamed video, or downloaded video, on their television sets at last once a month.

The report adds that the number of US broadband households viewing Web-to-TV content will reach 24 million by 2014. Presently, the age group between 25 to 34 year olds that have access to game consoles, interface the devices between PC’s and TV’s to watch streaming video off the Internet; and, the estimated number of US broadband households that will use media center PCs for streaming Web-to-TV content by 2014 is 7.4 million.

This LG LCD TV screen has hit upon some kind of wonder diet: despite packing in 1080 resolution, it’s just 5.9mm thick, making it the world’s thinnest LCD HDTV!

We’ve seen skinny LCD TVs before from the likes of Samsung and Sony, but until now, they’ve all been 7mm or more around the waistline. Far from chunky, yes, but LG’s 42 and 47 inch LCD screens are the new size zeros in HDTV town. LG’s new LCD displays are even thinner than Panasonic’s Neo Eco plasma screen that wowed audiences and shattered jaws at CES this year!

Viewing angles are 178/178; the LCD panel is 10-bit; and brightness is 450 cd/m2. Power consumption is 110W for the 42-inch model and 130W for the 47-inch. Availability is undecided at the moment.
